After a turbulent summer that saw him finding a team only once the 2023 FIBA World Cup was over, Jean Montero delivered once again in the ACB, this time with MoraBanc Andorra.

Being named the Best Young Player in Spain last season with Real Betis, he doubled it in 2023-24 by averaging 15.1 points (5th best), 5.2 assists (5th best), 2.0 steals (1st), and 19.5 EFF (2nd best) per game. He’s only the third player ever to do so after Luka Doncic (2017 and 2018) and Carlos Alocen (2019 and 2020).

The 20-year-old won’t be able to go the third straight award with this season’s same jersey, as confirmed by the club’s president Gorka Aixàs on RTVA. “It is impossible to keep him. Evidently, he has shown that he is a player of another level. He is one of the best players to have passed through this club, if not the best”, he commented.

Coming on loan until the end of the season from Gran Canaria, he then signed for two more years with the club, until 2026. However, it’s very unlikely he will wear the same colors in 2024-25.
