Behind 22 points by Justin Anderson and 21 by Chris Jones, Valencia got the 99-93 win over Real Madrid for the Spanish Liga Endesa.
However, the “Whites” are worried more about losing Argentinian forward Gabriel Deck two weeks before the upcoming EuroLeague Final Four, than losing the game.
Thanks to this result, Valencia with a 20-12 record jumped to the 5th spot in the standings, while Real Madrid with a 27-6 record is in danger of losing the top spot in a tie with Unicaja Malaga which beat Barcelona.
The worst news of the night, however, came from Gabriel Deck’s injury who stepped on the feet of his teammate Guershon Yabusele during the last quarter of the game.
He left the court with the help of two of his teammates and he will have medical exams soon. There’s no official information about his condition yet, however, Deck missed the Final Four also last season when he tore the internal collateral ligament in his left knee on the 6th of May, 2023.
As Real Madrid’s coach Chus Mateo said in the press conference: “We are worried. It was a bad injury, he sprained his knee. Let’s hope it’s nothing, but at first glance he’s in a lot of pain and has come out on crutches. Of course, he won’t be there on Sunday (ed.note: on the next Spanish league game). I hope we can get him back as soon as possible”.
