Real Madrid have beaten UCAM Murcia for the third and final time to win the Liga Endesa with a sweep.

Chus Mateo’s unit got the 3-0 triumph with an 84-73 win with which “Los Blancos” got their 37th national league title and regained the throne, after last season’s success of Barça.

Dzanan Musa with 18 points was the leader of the winning side and got the MVP award while Mario Hezonja added 17 points.

Murcia got a 40-32 halftime lead which was not enough. On the contrary, it was the wake-up call needed for Madrid, which answered back with a partial score of 34-16 in the third period. After that, the game was decided.

Dylan Ennis with 17 points tried his best for the hosts, but Real Madrid was simply on a different level against a team that for the first time in their history made it to the league finals.

A night (and a season) to remember

The game was the last in the Spanish league for Rudy Fernandez, who has all but confirmed his decision to retire from basketball after playing in the summer with the Spanish national team.

It was one more season to remember for Real Madrid, as coach Chus Mateo summarized after the game: “We have had a great season, a little sad to lose the Euroleague final, but we have done an incredible job winning 72 games out of 86. It has been an incredible year, with ups and downs, but a very, very good one. We have fought for all the titles and we have almost won it all”.
