After 20 years of professional basketball in Spain, Carlos Suárez García-Osorio officially announced his retirement from the game, calling it a career.
The 38-year-old forward grew up in Estudiantes’ youth system from 2002 to 2005 and made his first professional appearance in 2004 with the same club. He stayed with the team until 2010.
Later on, he moved to Real Madrid for three seasons, winning the 2012 Copa del Rey and Spanish Supercup, while also lifting up the 2012-13 ACB League.
Leaving the Spanish capital’s basketball powerhouse in 2013, he then established himself as a Unicaja Malaga legend, staying in Andalucia until 2022. With the team, he also won the 2016-17 EuroCup.
He concludes his basketball career with his childhood team, Estudiantes. From 2022 to 2024, instead, he played in Fuenlabrada and San Pablo Burgos, going down to the second Spanish division.
Representing his country in the junior national teams with U18 – winning the gold medal at the U18 European Championship in 2004 – and U20, he played for the first time with the senior national team in 2010 but didn’t make it to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2010.
