The new season in Spain will tip off with a clash between archrivals Barcelona and Real Madrid in the first semifinal of the SuperCup tournament. It’s the kind of game that Barca guard Nicolas Laprovittola finds ideal to begin 2024-25.
“It’s good for us to have a match against a team like Real Madrid. We must be better prepared than last season and that’s why we started with a lot of desire and we must be ready,” Laprovittola said in statements he made for Barca TV.
Barcelona was swept 0 – 3 by Real Madrid in the 2024 ACB Final, in what was the finale of an overall disappointing campaign for the Blaugrana in both Spain and the EuroLeague.
Under new coach Joan Penarroya and with some notable new signings like the one of former All-EuroLeague guard Kevin Punter and former NBA forward Chimezie Metu, Barca hopes to start the new season on a high note.
“We must give our all in every training session, start on the right foot. Joan [Penarroya] will give us the game plan, but what we have to do now is focus on working and connecting with our new teammates.”
Barca also added center Youssoupha Fall, young guard Juan Nunez among others. “A lot of physicality” and “experience in different leagues” is what Laprovittola comments on the team’s new players.
