After starting the preseason tour in China with a 42-point victory (99-57) against the Beijing Ducks, Barcelona couldn’t follow with another win, losing 72-64 to Basquet Girona in a Catalan derby.
Two of Barcelona’s newest faces, Kevin Punter and Justin Anderson, led Joan Peñarroya’s team in scoring with 13 points each. On the winning end, Aljami Durham led Girona’s comeback and ended as the highest scorer of the encounter with 17 points.
Alongside Jan Vesely, who’s recovering after undergoing appendicitis surgery, Alex Abrines also didn’t play in Barcelona’s second friendly game in their Chinese preseason tour.
Next up, the red-and-blue side will play in Murcia in the upcoming ACB Supercup, trying to interrupt Real Madrid‘s unstoppable winning streak in the competition. UCAM Murcia and Unicaja Baloncesto, just like last season, will also play in the tournament starting on September 21.
