MURCIA – Joan Penarroya has experienced his first “Clasico” as FC Barcelona coach with a defeat in the semi-finals of the Endesa SuperCopa.
In the press conference, Barcelona’s coach spoke about his team’s attitude, the level, the issues to improve and Real Madrid’s free throws in the final minutes that tipped the balance according to him.
“Of Real Madrid’s last 22 points, 14 have been from the free throw, it was important,” Penarroya commented.
Regarding the game, he pointed out the level of his new signings and the mood for this start of the season. “The players have a very good attitude, with a lot of ambition,” he clarified.
“We were successful with the three-pointer in the first half, but we had very low percentages on the two-point shots. We had a fairly balanced game in terms of two-point and three-point shots. We could have passed the ball a little better, but that’s normal at this stage of the season,” he explained.
In his first “Clasico”, Penarroya has experienced the roller coaster that’s a match between Barça and Real Madrid. A match that was decided in the final minutes. “I’ve seen my first “Clasico” well. With the necessary tension, as is the case with these types of matches,” he concluded.
