Unicaja is living the dream. After winning the Basketball Champions League last season and the Intercontinental Cup at the beginning of the new one, Ibon Navarro’s side secured another trophy.

The Malaga team defeated Real Madrid 80-90 in the Supercup final, preventing Los Blancos from winning their seventh consecutive Supercup and making history by claiming the title in the mentioned competition for the first time in the club’s history.

Kameron Taylor took MVP honors after leading Unicaja in the final with 22 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

Kendrick Perry followed him with 16 points against Real Madrid, while Yankuba Sima added 14, and Tyler Kalinoski scored 10 points.

Facu Campazzo stood out for Real Madrid with 19 points but dished out only one assist. Gabriel Deck followed with 13 points, while Sergio Llull also scored 13. Mario Hezonja missed the game due to a high fever.

Ibon Navarro: “In this team, there is a different MVP every day”

A few days after winning the Intercontinental Cup, Malaga added another trophy, and coach Navarro didn’t hide his satisfaction: “I would like to congratulate the team for winning the game ten times. It was a very complete game, but it was a shame for those five minutes in the second quarter. I also got into a war that I spread a little bit… Apart from the point difference, we lost our minds, but the team came out very well in the second half”.

And while Taylor was the MVP, Navarro added for his roster: “The good thing is that every day there is a different MVP on this team. It is easier with good players. And when they are also good persons, it is much easier.”
