Baskonia nearly mishandled a double-digit cushion in the fourth quarter but scored a win, 93-89, versus FC Barcelona in Palau Blaugrana on Sunday.
Dropping 11 of his 19 points in the fourth period, Trent Forrest pushed the team coached by Pablo Laso to 2-2. Only nine players were available in Round 4 of Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season with Kamar Baldwin sitting out alongside injured teammates Tadas Sedekerskis, Nikos Rogkavopoulos, and Sander Raieste.
With 3:32 left in the fourth quarter, Nicolas Laprovittola hurt his right knee and did not return. The 34-year-old Argentine point guard suffered a knee ligament sprain. The severity of the injury will be determined upon more tests by the medical staff of the Catalonia powerhouse on Monday.
Barca was forced down to 3-1 and left Unicaja alone on top of the ACB table behind a 4-0 start to the 2024-25 campaign. Standing out in the losing effort, Jabari Parker shared a game-high 19 points. Resting Alex Abrines joined Joel Parra (right foot) on the sidelines.
Earlier, Real Madrid balanced the domestic tally at 2-2 with a comfortable win, 95-67, versus Girona in WiZink Center. Mario Hezonja, Facundo Campazzo, and Walter Tavares put in 14 points apiece. Debuting with the senior team, 17-year-old Sidi Gueye pulled down two rebounds over four minutes. Andres Feliz (right foot) and Usman Garuba (left foot) remained unavailable for head coach Chus Mateo besides Dzanan Musa being forced to an early exit due to a minor ankle injury.
Following an offensive rebound and beating the buzzer with a midway jumper, Dominican Jean Montero lifted Valencia to an 89-88 victory versus MoraBanc Andorra.
