Daniel Perez scored 22 points as BAXI Manresa beat Barcelona 85 – 72 in Round 9 of the Spanish ACB League regular season.
This was the fourth loss in five games over all competitions for Barcelona that is now 5-4 in Spain. As if the result wasn’t bad enough for the Blaugrana, they saw guard Dario Brizuela exiting the court in the first quarter with an apparent knee injury after slipping on the floor.
Barcelona is already without Raul Neto for the next four weeks, as the team announced earlier today.
Manresa closed halftime up 51 – 38 and they retained an advantage through the third quarter. Meanwhile, Barca saw star guard Kevin Punter getting ejected early in the second half with his second technical foul and his team down 56 – 42.
Barca fell behind by 21 points, 74 – 53, early in the fourth period and Manresa was able to retain a double-digit advantage for the remainder of the game. Derrick Alson provided 12 points plus nine rebounds for the hosts while Alex Perez scored 12.
Willy Hernangomez (17 points, 12 rebounds) and Tomas Satoransky (16 points) stood out from Barca.
