The clash between Spanish powerhouses Real Madrid and Barcelona in Round 13 of the ACB League was a true treat for all European basketball fans.
The famous El Clásico had it all. Barcelona had a chance to win in the final seconds, but Chimezie Metu missed a tough three-point shot, and Real Madrid emerged victorious with a 73-71 score at WiZink Center.
Facundo Campazzo led the way for Chus Mateo’s side with 17 points and six assists, while Mario Hezonja recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Edy Tavares added 11 points with seven boards, while Džanan Musa had an all-around game with 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Unfortunately, Gabriel Deck suffered an injury in the third quarter and had to leave for the locker room, eventually not returning to the game.
“It has been an ugly injury, we thought it was the knee, let’s hope it’s not, I don’t think it is, but he has pain in the back of the thigh, so I understand it could be something serious on a muscular level. Hopefully, they’ll tell us it’s not as serious as it seems,” Real Madrid’s head coach Chus Mateo said on Deck’s injury.
Jabari Parker stood out for Barcelona with 18 points and nine rebounds, Tomáš Satoranský added 13 with six boards and four assists, while Kevin Punter finished the match with 12 points.
