Real Madrid survived a very tough Granada team on the road

Mario Hezonja scored 8 out of his game-high 23 points in the fourth period to lead Real Madrid past Girona on the road after a comeback from down 15 points in the third quarter.

This was the eighth win over the last nine games for Madrid that moved to 11 – 4 in the Spanish ACB. Girona fell to 4-11.

Hezonja also made a big 3-point play to put Real Madrid 77 -82 with 1:21 remaining. Jacob Wiley dunked the ball to put Granada at a shooting distance but that was the last the hosts scored in the game.

Granada was up 53 – 38 early in the second half and was leading 64 – 56 in the beginning of the fourth quarter. With the score 75 – 70 and four minutes to play, Madrid made a 2 – 11 run and kept the advantage for the rest of the match.

Apart from Hezonja, Facu Campazzo provided Real Madrid with 15 points, five assists and some key plays down the stretch. Amine Noua had 18 points and seven rebounds for Granada.

In another ACB postponed game for Round 14, Baskonia crushed Leyma Coruna 114 – 66 to improve to 7-8 and retain its chances to make the Copa del Rey lineup.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot paced Baskonia with 24 points and five rebounds. Yunio Barrueta had 18 points and five rebounds for Coruna, now 4-11.
