Real Madrid defeated Gran Canaria 80 – 63 to advance to the Copa del Rey Final. The Blancos will defend their title against 2023 Cup champion Unicaja Malaga.
Gran Canaria led 31 – 30 at halftime but Real Madrid returned from the locker room in hot form to take a 45 – 55 advantage near the end of the third period. Chus Mateo’s players further increased the intensity of their game and went ahead 54 – 74 halfway through the fourth period. There was no way back from that margin.
Mario Hezonja had a strong output for Real with 14 points plus six rebounds while Facu Campazzo paced the offense with 13 points and seven assists. Sergio Llull scored nine of his 11 points in the final period and Dzanan Musa dropped 11 points.
Only Caleb Homesley (15 points, five assists, 1-6 triples) scored in double figures for tournament host Gran Canaria.
Malaga qualified to the Final thanks to a 90 – 83 win over La Laguna Tenerife. Yankuba Sima was dominant for the winning side with 21 points and eight rebouns.
