Sporadic bursts counter offensive struggles as Real Madrid stays alone on top of the Liga Endesa standings

A battle of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague outfits in Round 23 of Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season with Real Madrid securing a narrow home win, 83-78, versus Baskonia on Sunday.

Andres Feliz put in all of his eight points in the fourth quarter, and Sergio Llull scored eight of his 13 points over the last ten minutes, pushing their side to a league-high 19-4. Mario Hezonja posted a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double, and Alberto Abalde shared a game-high 16 points. Also, Gabriel Deck (hamstring) returned to action with three points and four rebounds in just under 15 minutes.

Dealing with back pain, Chima Moneke was a late scratch for the team coached by Pablo Laso. Settling on the wrong end of a back-and-forth contest, the visitors dropped to 11-12.

Deprived of Fran Guerra due to an ankle injury during warmups in Bilbao Arena, La Laguna Tenerife reached second place in the standings by defeating Surne Bilbao, 75-65, and improving to 18-5. Giorgi Shermadini paved the way with 21 points. Unicaja was forced down to 17-6 after a loss, 84-69, to Casademont Zaragoza on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the ACB, Jabari Parker combined his 30th birthday with a new individual high outside the NBA, tucking in 34 points behind 13/18 field goals as FC Barcelona overpowered MoraBanc Andorra, 113-91. Jerrick Harding’s 31 points went to waste for the hosts.

Earlier, Darrun Hilliard poured in 33 points, a new personal best for the 2024-25 campaign, pushing Rio Breogan to a road win, 106-98, against Leyma Coruna.

On Saturday, Jean Montero scored a season-high 32 points, lifting Valencia, 104-89, over Joventut Badalona and to 17-6.
