Before the triumphant victory against Bilbao for Liga Endesa, Laboral Kutxa celebrated the 20- year anniversary of winning the 1996 Saporta Cup by honoring the “heroes” who led the team to that title.
It was then that Laboral Kutxa (under the name “Taugres”) defeated PAOK Thessaloniki 88 – 81 in the final, to add the first, and only until now, international cup in the club’s trophy case.
The players who made history with Basques back in 1996 were given special commemorative plaques during the ceremony. Of course, the general festive spirit continued in the game afterwards, since Laboral Kutxa destroyed Bilbao 108 – 62.
