He was the star of Baskonia during a triumphant victory against Bilbao in the “Basque derby”. Through a record breaking performance, Darius Adams didn’t only lead his team to the win, but also won MVP of the Week, in the Spanish Championship.
With his 30 points (with brilliant shooting of 6/9 two-pointers, 3/6 three-pointers and 9/10 free throws), Darius Adams transformed what was supposed to be a derby against Bilbao. Because a comfortable win, doesn’t simply come out of the blue. It needs someone to set the wheels in motion for one team to completely overpower the other. And Adams was totally a force to be reckoned with, since apart from his 30 points, he finished the game with 8 fouls won. No one could top him.
The 26 year old American point guard also made some new career highs in Liga Endesa, during the process of delivering such a great performance. Apart from setting a new personal record with his scoring the 35 ranking points he gathered also make a new personal best for him.
“It is a great feeling to achieve such a victory against Bilbao, which is one of our main rivals”, said Darius Adams about his MVP achievement. “It is a tremendous feeling”, he added. “We played with a lot of energy that our fans gave us. Once we get our game going, it is very difficult to stop us at home”.
