The veteran’s magical touch has been doing its job in keeping Sevilla safe from harm and at a distance from the relegation zone. As the Andalusian team finishes March with a balanced record of two wins and two defeats, its top performer, Bostjan Nachbar, is named MVP of the month in Liga Endesa.
In these four games, Nachbar scored an average of 19.5 points while he grabbed 3.2 rebounds per match. His greatest contribution in a victory for Sevilla came in the clash against Gran Canaria, where the Slovenian forward finished the game with 23 points. Although he also had a monster game against Badalona, dropping no less than 32 points, his team could not get the desired result in the end.
This is the first time that the 35-year old player receives the monthly MVP award in Spain. “It’s a prize for the whole team” he said about it. “I am happy because it shows that the team plays well. No MVP is named if the team does not play well”. Nachbar also gave credit to his teammates for Sevilla’s victories. “There are many players who deserve this MVP in our team. Scott Bamforth and Ondrej Balvin for example, have a great month. It’s an award that belongs to the team”.
