This morning, FEB (Spanish Basketball Federation) sent a letter to the ACB (Association of Spanish Clubs) asking for the full text of the agreement that was reached among the assembly members to join the Euroleague proposal, as well as the signed contract.

Some hours later, the president of ACB, Francisco Roca, responded by sending a letter of his own, asking for a variety of clarifications on matters such as: A) Determining the basis on the penalties that FIBA wants to inflict, B) The request made by FIBA from the European Commission, C) The procedure that FIBA follows on imposing its penalties and D) The plans for the tournament that FIBA proposed to organize on July 2015.

Regarding the last matter and among other things, Francisco Roca recalled that Barcelona, Real Madrid, Olympicos, Panathinaikos, Maccabi Tel Aviv, CSKA Moscow and Fenerbahce were guaranteed participation in the tournament based on criteria that had to do with sports ranking, as well as commercial interest.

He then raised the question if there was a change in the regulations since then, that now prevents organizing a European competition with teams not chosen exclusively with sports criteria, but also according to their commercial value.
