Three European leagues who have been pro Euroleague/Eurocup have composed an open letter expressing their support towards the club’s freedom to choose the competition of their liking and their hope for an end in the “Eurobasketball conflict” of the last months.
ACB (Spain), VTB League (compiled of northwestern European teams) and ABA League (in which countries from the Balkan region of what was once Yugoslavia participate), released the following letter/statement, in which they declare the support to the clubs’ “freedom of choice to choose the European competition they consider most suitable for their development.”
Here is the full letter:
“We, the leagues of ABA League j.t.d, ACB and VTB United League, openly and fully respect freedom of choice of our clubs to choose the European competition they consider most suitable for their development and of superior sports quality.
The right to express free will in registration to international club competitions remains fundamental right and value that the leagues fully stay in line with their member clubs.
It remains our hope that official institutions will bring end to the needless conflict that has already inflicted a great damage on European basketball overall.”
