Baskonia grabbed a tough home win against Zaragoza in overtime with 101-92 and improved to 6-3 in the Spanish league.
In the first period, Zaragoza was leading with 18-23, with notable work in rebounding. Baskonia couldn’t find the right methods to slow down its opponent, though had brief leads throughout the second period. Jelovac hit a clutch shot for the visitors and reduced the score to 45-42.
After the break, the game started to look more like a roller coaster for Baskonia. Halfway through the third period, the visitors were up 52-59, in an outbreak led by Fotu and Benzing. The third quarter ended 62-67. However, Baskonia wasn’t willing to let the game slip from its hands. In the final period the hosts covered the deficit and halfway though it they tied the score twice. With 19 seconds left, Zaragoza was up by 2 points, then Shane Larkin sent the game to overtime!
In overtime, the hosts were compelling, outnumbering the opponents 14-5 and were able to get this challenging win.
For Baskonia, Rodrigues Beaubois scored 22 points, Andrea Bargnani followed with 17, Adam Hanga had 16 and Johannes Voigtmann added 12.
Stevan Jelovac had an incredible game for Zaragoza, scoring 30 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
