In the first Copa Del Rey experience of his career, Shane Larkin scored 26 points, sent 8 assists to his teammates and won 11 fouls for 34 in PIR, as Baskonia topped Tenerife 90 – 81 to move forward onto the semifinals.
Adam Hanga provided 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals for the Basques while Chase Budinger added 10 points plus 6 rebounds. Rodrigue Beaubois and Kim Tillie contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds apiece to complete the offensive puzzle of the winning squad.
The 23 points plus 6 assists of Marius Grigonis and the 18 points plus 9 rebounds courtesy of Giorgos Bogris weren’t enough for Tenerife in their second Copa ACB participation over last 20 years.
Baskonia was furious in the first half (45 – 34) and even though it went cold in the third quarter, giving Tenerife a chance to approach 61 – 55, it had the last laugh after a fury of 29 points served hot in the final period.
