Real Madrid outlasted the battle against Estudiantes and prevailed 79-72. Sergio Llull shined once again for the winners with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, while Luka Doncic finished the game with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
Alec Brown was the leading scorer for the visitors with 20 points.
Rudy Fernandez paced the hosts and put them ahead by 23-15, then with a partial 0-5 ran, Estudiantes trimmed to 23-20 after 10 minutes.
Real kept a brief 5-point advantage at halftime with 40-35, though the game soon resembled a derby early in the second half. Soon enough though, Pablo Laso’s team reacted and as a result, they took their visitors by storm to lead by 13 points at 31′, 63-50.
While Estudiantes trimmed to less than 10 points near the end of the game, they weren’t able to complete their comeback. After this result Madrid is second in the standings (21-7), having one game less than Valencia (22-7), Baskonia is third (20-8) and Barcelona (20-9) fourth after beating Real Betis.
