Luka Doncic scored 7 out of his 24 points in the last three minutes, helping Real Madrid close 2017 with an 89 – 81 victory over feisty Estudiantes at home and improve to 12-1.
The potential No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft shot 7/15 from the field and also grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 5 assists for a game-high 33 PIR. But it was mainly his contribution in the game’s final lap that was extremely pivotal for Real Madrid.
Led by a tremendous Sylven Landesberg (29 points) Estudiantes was up 81 – 79 with 4 minutes remaining. But Doncic, along with Trey Thompkins (13 points) and Facu Campazzo (9 points) rallied for a 10 – 0 run to set the tone for their squad’s victory.
Landesberg was unable to help his team after being ejected with two minutes left and the score 85 – 81 for attempting an elbow hit on Doncic and the latter iced the game with four points in a row for the 91 – 84.
