Iberostar Tenerife closed Week 16 in the Spanish league with a win over Baskonia 86 – 74. Toko Shengelia’s 25 points and 8 rebounds in just 25 minutes on the court weren’t enough and the Vasques haven’t secured their Copa del Rey spot yet.
Tim Abromaitis led Tenerife in scoring with 17 points while Kostas Vasileiadis and Mateusz Ponitka added 16 each.
After the first half (37 – 40) the Canaries weren’t unstoppable. Tenerife outscored Baskonia in the second period and enjoyed a comfortable ending.
Now, both teams are tied in the standings with 9 victories and 7 defeats.
Earlier today, Barcelona was close to an incredible comeback but Unicaja escaped with the win. Also, Real Madrid got the win over the surprising Fuenlabrada and remains with just one lost game. Over the weekend, Valencia smashed Zaragoza on a three-pointer rampage.
