Landing Sane scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 6 rebound, leading Andorra to a major 89 – 87 upset in the Spanish League over powerhouse Real Madrid, following a fourth-quarter comeback.
The win of Andorra becomes much more impressive considering the fact that they were trailing by 10, 67 -77, three minutes into the last period.
Apart from Sane, Andrew Albicy delivered a double-double of 12 points plus 10 assists while also scoring a key basket that made it 87 – 74 with one minute remaining.
Rudy Fernandez’s and Fabien Causeur’s 3-point shots went off target, Trey Thompkins committed an offensive foul in the next possession that followed and Andorra remained at a distance with David Jelinek sealing the win with a pair of free throws.
Facu Campazzo was the top scorer of the “Blancos” with 19 points while potential No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft Luka Doncic finished with 13 points (5/12), five rebounds and three assists in 25:37. Fernandez also had 13 points.
With this result, Andorra improved to a 10 -9 record and got close to the playoff zone, now standing at the 10th spot in the standings. Real remains first with 17 – 2.
