Baskonia reacted in style following the mid-week EuroLeague loss to Panathinaikos by routing Unicaja Malaga 96 – 78 in Vitoria, in the last Spanish League Round before the Copa Del Rey.
After leading 36 – 38 at halftime, Malaga had a meltdown at the third quarter with the Basques dominating 31 – 15 and setting the foundations for what ultimately became a comfortable victory.
Tornike Shengelia scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, Johannes Voigtmann added 18 points (on 7/7 shooting from the field) and Rodrigue Beaubois 13 plus 7 assists for Baskonia that improved its record to 13 – 7.
Meanwhile, Unicaja fell to 12 – 8 after this loss, since Giorgi Shermadini’s (16 points) and Adam Waczynski’s (15 points) efforts didn’t cut it.
