Rudy Fernandez also delivered some crucial baskets for the “Blancos” with five points in a row that transformed the score from 72 – 77 to 77 – 77 with 3 minutes remaining. He finished with 11 points.
Malaga had previously taken a 7-point lead, 70 – 77 but that was erased in almost one minute. They once again went ahead 79 – 81 thanks to Carlos Suarez (Unicaja‘s top scorer 17 points) only for Real to respond with what was proven to be a decisive 7-0 run for the 86 – 81.
Trey Thompkins added 14 points for Real. Potential no. 1 pick in the NBA Draft Luka Doncic struggled with his shooting (3/11) but managed 11 points, 5 rebounds plus 5 assists.
For Malaga, Adam Waczynski scored 15 and Nemanja Nedovic 11.
Real Madrid will face Iberostar Tenerife, that beat Valencia, in the semifinal.
