Fuenlabrada won the Spanish League Madrid derby by downing Estudiantes 87 – 81 thanks to a… blazing performance by Marko Popovic.
Popovic finished with 22 points courtesy of 7/13 3-pointers to carry his team towards a victory that gets them at the fifth place in the standings with a 17 – 8 record. Rolands Smits added 11 points plus 6 rebounds for Fuenlabrada that gained momentum from an electric 23 – 15 entrance in the first quarter, never looking back afterward.
For Estudiantes, that dropped to 9-13 and the 13th spot in the table, Sylven Landesberg stood out after scoring a game-high 23 points and Goran Suton posted a double-double of 16 points plus 10 rebounds.
