Thomas Heurtel scored a free throw with 22 seconds remaining, Adam Hanga blocked Bojan Dubljevic’s lay-up attempt in the next play and Barcelona beat Valencia 71 – 70 on the road in a clash between two Spanish league powerhouses.
Hanga’s help defense was quite a thing as you can see for yourselves.
Barcelona had come back from a nine-point deficit, 56 – 47, to gain a 4-point lead, 66 – 70, with 1:24 remaining following a 3-pointer by Victor Claver. Valencia tied the game but Barcelona won thanks to the aforementioned clutch moments and got a result that secured them third place (currently 23 -10) in the regular season.
Heurtel finished with a team-high 15 points while Petteri Koponen had 14. Will Thomas and Alberto Abalde dropped 11 points apiece for the “Taronja” that are fourth with 22-11.
