After playing in Israel where he won the League and Cup title with Hapoel Jerusalem, Amare Stoudemire says that it’s not a far-fetched scenario that he might also take his game to the Spanish ACB League.
In an interview with Marca, Stoudemire explained what he finds attractive in the Spanish League while praising the atmosphere the fans create.
Here’s what the six-time All-Star also said about European basketball and his experience in Israel.
On possibly playing in the ACB:
“I would love to play in the Spanish League because it’s very competitive. It’s possible if a team is interested. In Spain, there are many young people who want to play in the NBA. And the atmosphere is incredible. I played with Hapoel Jerusalem in the EuroCup semifinals in Valencia and the fans were incredible. Then I said I wish I could play there someday. I thank the Spanish fans who have followed my career.”
On European basketball:
“The fans in Europe encourage the team, they are very all the time. In the NBA this is depended in certain moments of the game, as for example the end of the game. In Israel, they shout and cheer during the whole match.in Europe, there’s more passion. At a professional level, it’s not easy to play as a foreign player in Europe because of the rules. You have to know how to adapt.
On playing with Hapoel Jerusalem:
“It really was a different experience for me but also an incredible one. I was lucky to play in the EuroCup, visit wonderful countries and cities and, of course, it was a pleasure playing in Israel. I had a great time.
