Tornike Shengelia delivered a power-performance of 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists in 25:32 minutes, as Baskonia began the new ACB season by beating Zaragoza 99 – 76 at home.
It was in the third quarter that Baskonia erupted and dominated its opponents 32 – 17 to cruise towards victory. Zaragoza, that was competitive in the first half (41-40) couldn’t keep up with the hosts and lost.
Stan Okoye had a fine ACB debut with 16 points plus five rebounds and Nemanja Radovic scored 11 for the losing squad.
Apart from Shengelia, Vincent Poirier had 17 points plus six rebounds. Patricio Garino dropped 16 points.
