Barcelona outplayed Valencia in the final lap of the game to win 86 – 79 and grab a ticket to the Copa Del Rey semifinal stage.
When Valencia went up 71 – 73 in the mid of the fourth period, Barcelona erupted for a 13 – 0 run that put them ahead 84 – 73 with 1:33 remaining. The “Taronja” made it a five-point game, 84 – 79 with 49 seconds left on the clock but a bucket by Tomic sealed the win for his team.
For Barcelona, Thomas Heurtel scored a team-high 17 points while Pau Ribas added 15 points. Ante Tomic contributed 14 points and eight rebounds and Adam Hanga dropped 12 points, including two triples in the aforementioned game-winning run.
Bojan Dubljevic finished with 13 points and five rebounds and Will Thomas had 12 points from Valencia’s side.
In the other quarterfinals game held today (14/2), Iberostar Tenerife upset Unicaja Malaga 88 – 78 behind 19 points and five rebounds by Colton Iverson.
