Iberostar Tenerife coach Txus Vidorretta was ejected in the final minute of the Copa Del Rey semifinal loss to Barcelona for protesting a questionable foul called on Nicolas Brussino’s steal attempt on Pau Ribas with the score 87 – 83 for Barca and 20 seconds remaining.
According to Vidorreta, the only thing he told the referee while kneeling in front of him, was a simple… ‘please’. “My father would be proud of me because he was a good Catholic. I didn’t expect they were going to eject me for saying ‘please’ and getting on my knees,” Vidorreta said in the post-game presser.
Vidorretta also compared the foul given to Brussino with a previous non-call on Barcelona’s Kyle Kuric.
“The foul that Kuric made on Abromaitis was seen on the jumbotron screen and on the other hand, the last one was called. Those are plays that happen. I have also been wrong in some plays but I won twice in the Instant Replay.”
