The controversy regarding the final moments of the Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona in which the latter came out victorious has continued.
Real Madrid which is threatening to leave ACB League unless the refereeing mistakes are acknowledged, also demands proper punishments to be implemented, according to Marca. They ask the following punishment for referees Juan Carlos Garcia Gonzalez, Miguel Angel Perez Perez and Benjamin Jimenez: expulsion from ACB, suspension for several seasons or that they not officiate Real Madrid’s games anymore.
Real assumes there was no intention in the referees’ decisions and attribute it to the lack of professionalism. It should also be mentioned that Juan Carlos Sanchez and Francisco Monjas who are responsible for the referees had a chance to review the play after the game and admitted a mistake was made.
