Barcelona forward/center Pierre Oriola had several reasons to be pleased with the win of his team over archrival Real Madrid in the ACB Clasico. One of them has to do with his “anti-Madrid” feelings.
“We are really happy because, in the end, Real Madrid is the eternal rival. Before being a “culé” (Barcelonista), I am anti-Madridista. I’m very culé, but much more anti-Madridista,” Oriola said to Catalunya Radio.
Oriola, who finished the game with 10 points and six rebounds in 17:16 minutes and his teammates have now swept Real Madrid in the Spanish League regular season. They remain the standings leaders and the frontrunner for finishing at the first place and thus own homecourt advantage for the entirety of the playoffs.
“By winning here, our team takes a breath. We continue leading the league and this gives value to the work we have done, especially in defense. Now we have to go for the next challenges, such as securing the fifth place in the Euroleague,” Oriola also said.
