Two-time EuroCup champion Marko Popovic has decided to retire from professional basketball, Fuenlabrada announced.
“I say goodbye to this beautiful sport,” Popovic said, per Fuenlabrada.
Popovic, 36, has been professional basketball since 1998. The Croatian guard spent eight seasons of his career playing in EuroLeague with such clubs as Zalgiris Kaunas, Anadolu Efes, Cibona Zagreb, and Zadar.
In 123 EuroLeague games, Popovic averaged 12.5 points, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 rebounds.
Popovic won the EuroCup twice, in 2011 with Unics Kazan and in 2015 with Valencia. He also celebrated numerous domestic titles in Croatia, Russia, Spain, Lithuania, and Turkey.
With the Croatian national team Popovic played in the 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2011 EuroBasket tournaments, plus the 2006 Olympic Games and the 2010 World Cup.
