Gran Canaria signed former All-EuroLeague center Giannis Bourousis, the Spanish club announced. The veteran Greek player signed a one-year deal to return to the Spanish ACB League for the first time since his 2015-2016 stint with Baskonia.
Bourousis had then led the team to the EuroLeague Final Four while making the First Team of the competition.
After parting ways with Baskonia, Bourousis played with Panathinaikos in 2016-2017 (winning the Greek League and Cup titles) and then moved to China to spend two seasons with the Zhejiang Lions. He averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 2018-2019.
Bourousis previously played in Spain briefly with Barcelona in 2016, and with Real Madrid from 2013 to 2015. He won the 2015 EuroLeague title with the “Blancos”.
On Gran Canaria, Bourousis will be reunited with his former AEK BC and Greek national team head coach Fotis Katsikaris.
