Facu Campazzo scored a team-high 16 points, including a crucial 3-pointer down the stretch, as Real Madrid beat archrival Barcelona 89 – 79 to win the 2019 Spanish Supercup. It’s the second consecutive Supercopa title and sixth overall for the “Blancos”.
Brandon Davies dropped 23 points for Barcelona and put on a major effort to help his team recover from a 19-point deficit and make it 84 – 79 with two minutes remaining after free throws by Cory Higgins. Campazzo drained a triple in the next play for the 87 – 79 and Nikola Mirotic missed a shot on the other end, much to the delight of Real fans attending the game in their home arena. There was no time left for Barcelona to erase that deficit.
Campazzo claimed MVP honors after finishing the match with five rebounds and five assists in 25:15 minutes, apart from scoring 16. Jordan Mickey added 10 points and seven rebounds while Rudy Fernandez posted 10 points and for boards for the winning squad.
Mirotic completed the game with 14 points and six rebounds. Cory Higgins scored 13 (3/13 shots) and Malcolm Delaney 13 as well.
