San Pablo Burgos put on a strong start and was fighting until the very end but Barcelona managed to come out on top for a narrow 82-80 road win in the Spanish League.
Nikola Mirotic led the way with 28 points on 4-7 from deep. Half of his points came from the free-throw line (14-15) and he scored the last six points of Barca from the line as well, deciding the game.
Pierre Oriola followed with 18 points without a missed shot (7-7) while Kyle Kuric added ten. For Burgos, Vitor Benite scored 22 in addition to Thaddus McFadden’s 13 points.
Burgos was ahead 33-20 early on but Barcelona cut the gap to 47-44 at halftime. The lead switched sides throughout the third quarter with Burgos having the minimal 62-61 lead in front of the final period which eventually belonged to Barca, although Benite and Jasiel Rivero had a chance to win it for the hosts.
Barcelona sits temporarily at the top of the standings with 13-3 although Real Madrid (12-3) is yet to play in Round 16 while Burgos holds an 8-8 record.
