Konstantinos Kalemis, an intercultural instructor at the council for Europe and refugee education coordinator in the Greek ministry of education was removed from his position due to his racial slur towards Giannis Antetokounmpo on social media.
The Greek ministry reacted swiftly and removed Kalemis from his position as a refugee education coordinator, the role he was given at the Malakasa refugee camp.
Kalemis’ reaction came as an answer to the repost of the recent Bleacher Report video about the origin of Giannis in one of the biggest greek online media, “Proto Thema”.
Despite his position and working with refugees, Kalemis used words like “nigger” and “monkey” in his comments on both Facebook and Twitter. He deleted his Twitter account soon after.
To be exact, Kalemis wrote on FB: “What did we say that this monkey is doing exactly? Oh yes, plays basketball. Indifferent, even irrelevant. He should know WHO honored Greece with this sport. The ingrate.”
As well as: ” …and he’s not a human, he’s an asshole nigger.”
