People often talk about the “American Dream”, though how many of them could refer to… a car? Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Alex Abrines now owns the car of his dreams, one he acquired when he moved to the United States.
When asked about it by the Wall Street Journal, the 22 years old shooting guard said: “Years ago, while living in my hometown of Barcelona, I went to see the movie “Transformers” with my friends. I was really excited because I have always been into sci-fi. In the movie, there is a character called Bumblebee, a yellow Camaro with black stripes that transforms into an Autobot. While I was sitting in the theater watching this movie, the Camaro instantly became my dream car.”
However, he had to finally settle for a less bright color! Abrines explains: “When I came to play for Oklahoma City this season, I went looking for my car. I wanted the same colors as the Camaro in the Transformers movie, but my girlfriend did not want to drive around in a bright yellow car!”
“Five weeks ago, I took home a Camaro SS, a blue convertible with black stripes. It has all the options—GPS and everything else”, he added. “All my friends in Spain see pictures of the car and they freak out. You don’t see these machines in Europe. You only see them in movies!”
