Dinos Mitoglou is close to the Greens so Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos decided to celebrate the occasion with a bit of humor, targeted against the presidents of arch-rival Olympiacos.
Giannakopoulos uploaded a picture of Panagiotis and Giorgos Aggelopoulos, owners and presidents of Olympiacos, on his official Instagram post with the following caption:
-“They (Panathinaikos) also signed Mitoglou”
– “I’m really up for a protest. But what will we say?
– “That he abandoned college and he’s a bad student”.
The story behind such a post? Olympiacos had also been interested in the Greek power forward, having made inquiries about potentially adding him, before renewing Dimitris Agravanis.
Shortly afterward, an answer arrived and by the official Instagram page of Olympiacos, no less. The response came with a picture of Vangelis Mantzaris, Kostas Papanikolaou and Ioannis Papapetrou who’ve all declined various offers by Panathinaikos in the past to sign with the Olympiacos. Mantzaris also quite recently, since he turned down a proposal by the Greens this summer, choosing to renew with Oly.
The picture was accompanied by a message that roughly translates to: “Buy 3, get one more for free”.
