The EuroBasket 2017 finished by marking the most glorious moment in the history of the Slovenian basketball with the first-ever continental title in the country’s history.

While Luka Doncic had an enormous impact on this success (14.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists per game), making the All-EuroBasket Team and breaking some records in the process, his contribution to Slovenia’s sports stretches beyond what he accomplished in the tournament itself.

Shortly after the EuroBasket was over, the 18-year-old player decided to give his sneakers to the “Sponsorship in Slovenia” project, in order to be auctioned for the purpose of helping young, children athletes in need.

The auction, that was also promoted by Luka himself via his social media profiles, finished Friday (29/9) morning with the shoes being sold for €30.000. It’s the highest number that the project ever amassed by a single auction.

The above sum will be donated to kid/adolescent athletes that are facing various struggles in their lives.
