The German League decided on the final format of the ten-team tournament with which the 2019-20 season would be concluded in Munich in June and is awaiting permission from the government in order to proceed.

The permission would have to be given by May 18 in order to be able to keep to the schedule, including the quarantine and the necessary preparation phase of the players. The plan sent to authorities also includes hygiene and safety protocols.

Ten teams will be split into two groups with Bayern, Crailsheim, Oldenburg, Gottingen, and Ulm in Group A and Ludwigsburg, Alba, Vechta, Bamberg, and Frankfurt in Group B.

There will be a total of 36 games consisting of the group phase and the playoffs, starting from quarterfinals in a best-of-two format. The finalists would have played a total of ten games in three weeks, all held in Munich.

While awaiting the final decision, it’s also important to note that the German football leagues will resume again next weekend.
