MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg became the first team to advance to the German easycreditBBL league semifinals after winning the double-game series against defending champion Bayern Munich 160 – 157. Bayern beat Ludwigsburg 74 – 73 in the second game but had lost 87 – 83 in the first match, thus being outscored in the aggregate.
With 16 seconds to play, Matthias Lessort scored the basket and won the foul to put Bayern up 71 – 74. He missed the free-throw and after his team regained possession, Petteri Koponen made a bad pass that ended on Ludwigsburg’s hands. On the other end, Marcos Knight made 2/2 of his free throws to reach a game-high 20 points.
Vladimir Lucic then took the 3-point attempt to send the game to overtime and his shot went off target. Bayern was left out of the semifinals after winning the title for two straight seasons.
Paul Zipser dropped 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Bayern. Danilo Barthel added 14 points plus seven boards.
Apart from Knight, Jaleen Smith contributed 18 points to Ludwigsburg.

The team will face the winner of Ratiopharm Ulm – Fraport Skyliners (Ulm won 101 – 61 in the first game) series for a spot in the final. Ulm prevailed 197-130 on the aggregate after defeating the Skyliners 101 – 61 in the first game and 96 – 69 in the second.
