Lucic’s heroics fall short for Bayern, MHP Riesen takes 1-0 lead

Despite Vladimir Lucic’s heroics in the fourth period as Bayern tried to recover from a ten-point deficit, top-seeded MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg held on to a 101-98 win in Game 1 of the German BBL semifinals.

Jamel McLean posted 27 points on 10-12 FG to propel the hosts to victory, Jaleen Smith had 18 points, including a big-time three-pointer just when Bayern trimmed the deficit to 2 points with 34 seconds to play and Barry Brown Jr. had 15 points.

Lucic left the court with 24 points and 6 rebounds, DJ Seeley added 20 and Paul Zipser had 18 points.

Game 2 of the semifinals takes place Monday (May 31), while ALBA Berlin hosts Ulm for Game 1 of their series on Sunday (May 30).
