ALBA Berlin held on for the win, 86-79, against FC Bayern Munich on Sunday. The prevailing side won the best-of-five series, 3-1, to retain the easyCredit BBL title.
Jayson Granger poured a season-high 29 points wrapping up his first nearly full campaign in three years as a German champion. He made 8/15 field goals, including 5/8 from beyond the arc. Swedish Marcus Eriksson followed with 15 points.
After a hot start to Game 4, ALBA peaked at a 16-point distance early in the second quarter. Andrea Trinchieri’s side reacted and came into shooting distance of its first lead but was held to catchup mode until the end.
The Berlin side led by Aito Garcia Reneses clinched the tenth German championship in team history and also its second straight. After splitting home games with Bayern, it won both Game 3 and Game 4 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, to finish the series.
Wade Baldwin IV scored a team-high 18 points for the hosts. Leon Radosevic finished with 16 points and JaJuan Johnson with 15 points.
