Augustine Rubit scores 17 points as Bayern marches on

Following a couple of convincing wins in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague double-game week, FC Bayern Munich defeated medi Bayreuth, 87-78, on the road Sunday.

Augustine Rubit registered a team-high 17 points for Andrea Trinchieri’s side extending its winning streak to six games since October 17. Othello Hunter contributed 14 points, Corey Walden and Ognjen Jaramaz had 12 points each, and Nick Weiler-Babb finished with 11 points in the easyCredit BBL Regular Season Round 6 match. For the hosts, Marcus Thornton had a game-high 18 points.

After going up to 3-4 in EuroLeague before Friday’s home game versus Real Madrid, the domestic victory shaped the 4-1 record for Bayern in the German League. Deshaun Thomas, Vladimir Lucic, Zan Mark Sisko, Paul Zipser, and Leon Radosevic sat out the game at Bayreuth.

ALBA Berlin, ahead of Friday’s EuroLeague visit at Zalgiris Kaunas, also got the job done on the road earning the win, 101-89, over Brose Bamberg. Luke Sikma posted a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double. Jaleen Smith and Johannes Thiemann recorded 13 points each, while Maodo Lo and Oscar da Silva both finished with 12 points. Marcus Eriksson returned from an injury layoff with 12 points, but Ben Lammers remained out. Tim Schneider, Kresimir Nikic, and Stefan Peno were also sidelined.

After three straight losses across all competitions, the team coached by Israel Gonzalez improved to 3-3 in the BBL. The hosts were forced down to 4-2 despite Christian Sengfelder putting up a game-high 29 points and Justin Robinson logging 23 points powered by 5/11 triples.

An impressive 4-1 start for BG Gottingen after beating EWE Baskets Oldenburg, 95-85. Stephen Brown and Jake Toolson with 24 points apiece, and Kamar Baldwin with 22 points account for nearly 74% of the scoring. Cameron Clark posted 23 points and nine rebounds for the Basketball Champions League outlet.
