After multiple positive COVID-19 tests affecting both the playing squad and the coaching staff, FC Bayern Munich turned a tight game into a blowout with the 83-62 victory versus Brose Bamberg Sunday evening.
Experienced forward DeShaun Thomas led the way logging a game-high 20 points powered by 7/11 field goals in the easyCredit BBL Regular Season Round 23 fixture. Darrun Hilliard added 13 points and Augustine Rubit had 12 points. Andreas Obst and Ognjen Jaramaz chipped in 11 points apiece.
Assistants Demond Greene and Djordje Adzic took over the head coaching duties due to Italian mastermind Andrea Trinchieri being unavailable. Players Nick Weiler-Babb (head), Corey Walden, Othello Hunter, and Nihad Djedovic were sidelined as well.
A couple of days after losing to Olympiacos at home and dropping to 12-10 in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, Bayern improved its league-leading record to 18-5. Despite Justin Robinson making 16 points and Christian Sengfelder generating 14 points of his own, the visitors failed to stay close in the last ten minutes and were forced down to 9-11.
Earlier, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg rolled the JobStairs Giessen 46ers, 76-59. Justin Simon tallied 20 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. His side jumped to 15-7.
BG Gottingen got to 12-8 forcing Niners Chemnitz to 15-7 thanks to a home win, 90-69. Stephen Brown logged 20 points and Kamar Baldwin added 19 points.
