Caleb Homesley lifts Hamburg over Bayern

Fresh off the conclusion of its campaign in the 7DAYS EuroCup, the Hamburg Towers bounced back with a win, 87-83, against FC Bayern Munich Sunday.

Former Liberty standout Caleb Homesley was clutch down the stretch and ended up with a team-high 22 points in the easyCredit BBL Regular Season Round 32 fixture. Estonian forward/center Maik Kotsar, who played college basketball for South Carolina, went for 18 points, ten rebounds, and six assists. The team led by Pedro Calles improved to 18-13 in the German league.

At the same time, Bayern dropped to 22-8 despite coming back from an early double-digit deficit and red-hot DeShaun Thomas pouring a game-high 28 points. Othello Hunter sat out along with injured players, Leon Radosevic, Darrun Hilliard and Corey Walden. Up next for the team guided by Andrea Trinchieri will be a couple of home games versus FC Barcelona. After knotting the best-of-five series of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Quarterfinals at 1-1, Game 3 and Game 4 following Wednesday and Friday, respectively, will determine a Final Four berth or force Game 5 back in Catalonia.

Earlier, Telekom Baskets Bonn improved its BBL-best W-L tally to 25-7 by edging BG Gottingen, 78-76. Experienced guard Karsten Tadda hit the game-winning bucket after Javontae Hawkins locked in a game-high 25 points. Alba Berlin currently stands second thanks to a 23-6 W-L tally.
